La simmetria affascinante della Geria
Sappiamo bene che Lanzarote è un’isola vulcanica. Sappiamo anche che non è un’isola famosa per le precipitazione… e allora come è possibile che esista la regione della Geria, cioè la zona dei vigneti?
La risposta a questa domanda è tutta nelle leggi della natura e nell’ingegno umano. Osservando il paesaggio di questa zona, subito è possibile notare un’affascinante simmetria: si susseguono quasi infinitamente una serie di muretti a secco di forma circolare o di mezza luna dal color nero; colore dato dalle rocce vulcaniche e dal basalto, che si pone in totale antitesi al rosso del paesaggio ed il verde lucente dei vigneti.

Ognuno di questi muretti protegge dal vento una pianta che affonda le sue radici nel centro di un imbuto, spesso profondo anche mezzo metro e largo più di due. Le radici sono coperte dai neri lapilli vulcanici ed il segreto è proprio qui: questa tipologia di pietra, molto porosa, ha la capacità di ridurre l’evaporazione e soprattutto di assorbire umidità generata dallo sbalzo di temperatura tra giorno e notte; umidità che viene poi liberata e permette alle piante di crescere.
Insomma, quando l’ingegno umano si incontra con le forze della natura, nasce uno dei vini più buoni delle isole Canarie!
